PINEVILLE, La., Jan. 31, 2018 – Today, Cleco awarded City of Refuge Community Church (CORCC) $12,000 in its efforts to provide academic enrichment to the residents of Campti, La.
“Cleco is a proud supporter of City of Refuge,” said Bill Fontenot, Cleco CEO. “We are true believers that when businesses get involved in educating our youth, we help strengthen our communities.”
With the Cleco contribution, CORCC will offer:
- tutoring services for students
- technology-based learning support
- family literacy programs
- school uniforms/supplies
“We are thankful for Cleco’s generous donation. It will help us provide educational support to low-performing, at-risk and low income youth,” said Barbara Smith, CORCC executive pastor. “Furthermore, Cleco’s contribution will allow us to develop activities and projects to assist in the revitalization of our small, rural community.”
Cleco has a long history of philanthropic involvement across its 24-parish service territory. Last year, Cleco contributed nearly $1 million to non-profit organizations across the state.
“We are proud to support the life changing work these agencies are doing to benefit our customers and communities,” said Fontenot.
