Bayou Jean de Jean

In an effort to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment, contractors planted 65,000 hardwood seedlings on about 120 acres at Rodemacher Power Station in January 2001.

This tree planting is known as the Bayou Jean de Jean reforestation project because the land where the seedlings were planted is located between the plant and Bayou Jean de Jean.

The project is part of Cleco's strategy to reduce carbon emissions by using our land assets. Trees help clean the air by taking in carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas linked to global warming, and releasing oxygen during a process called photosynthesis. By reforesting this acreage, we're reclaiming land that's been out of forestry production for years.

Rodemacher is located in Lena near Boyce, La.
