Cleco awards Girls-Boys Place of Ville Platte $5,000

PINEVILLE, La., Dec. 12, 2017 – Today, Cleco awarded the Girls-Boys Place of Ville Platte $5,000 for its youth programming efforts which include arts and crafts, life skills, college preparation and recreation activities. 

“Cleco is a proud supporter of the Girls-Boys Place of Ville Platte,” said Bill Fontenot, interim Cleco Power CEO. “We are true believers that when businesses get involved in educating our youth, we help strengthen our communities.”

“Our facility offers a safe place for kids to explore and learn,” said Jennifer Vidrine, Mayor of Ville Platte.  “Among other programming initiatives, Cleco funds will be used to help children increase their math and reading scores through an academic tutoring program.  In the future we hope to provide computer classes to help our students stay ahead of the ever-changing world of technology, as well as create a science lab.”

Cleco has a long history of philanthropic involvement across its 24-parish service territory.  In 2017, Cleco contributed nearly $1 million to non-profit organizations across the state.
