Cleco continues restoration efforts following Tropical Storm Cristobal

PINEVILLE, La. – June 8, 2020 – Cleco continues power restoration efforts following outages after Tropical Storm Cristobal made landfall yesterday bringing high winds and heavy rain.

“Cleco crews and contractors continue clearing debris, making repairs and restoring power,” said James Lass, director of distribution operations and emergency management.   “We expect all customers’ power to be restored today.”

As of 8 a.m., approximately 750 customers in St. Tammany Parish were without power.  In addition to restoring power, crews are clearing debris, repairing broken poles and replacing downed wire.

“While the storm has passed, there is still a lot of clean up remaining,” said Lass.  “We remind our customers that downed lines can be hidden under debris and to never touch a downed wire or anything touching a downed power line.  Call Cleco and 911 to report a dangerous situation involving electricity.”
