Generation Interconnection Types: Co-Generation, Qualifying Facility, Merchant Provider or Other Parallel Operation (select a customer type below).

Co-Generation

Qualifying Facility (QF)

Merchant Provider

Other Parallel Operation

Allows customer to reduce consumption (e.g., net-metering).

Allows the customer to sell back to Cleco Power.

Allows the customer to sell generator output to the market.

Allows the customer to connect in parallel for all other operating parameters.

Generator interconnection is a process that includes the steps necessary to request approval from your local electric utility to connect generation to the utility's electric system.

Because jurisdictional issues vary between the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC), Cleco evaluates requests for generation interconnection individually to obtain proper documentation and ensure safe and reliable operation of the electric system.

Understand Compliance with Cleco Power and NERC Standards
All connections to the Cleco Power system must comply with all applicable Cleco Power standards and the planning standards and measurements of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) or its successor, as administered by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and/or any NERC regional entity. The  Specification for Customer Owned Generation sets forth the minimum requirements and procedures for safe and effective connection and operation of customer-owned generation connected to the Cleco Power system.

Cleco must also perform a study for each interconnection to ensure safe and reliable operation of its system.

Note: THE INTERCONNECTION PROCESS WITH CLECO MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO OR DURING THE DESIGN PHASE.  CLECO IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REQUIRED REDESIGNS OF THE PROJECT.

Note: Cleco does not allow generation interconnections at distribution voltage unless required by law.

Begin the process of interconnecting generation to Cleco's system by completing the Standard Interconnection Evaluation Form. This form will help establish jurisdiction of the proposed generation interconnection, so the appropriate individuals at Cleco can help insure the customer's project is appropriately handled.

All connections to Cleco's bulk transmission system at 69kV or above must comply with all applicable Cleco transmission standards and the planning standards and measurements of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) or its successor, as administered by Midcontinent Independent System Operator ("MISO") and/or any NERC regional entity.
