Why should I buy or upgrade to a heat pump?
According to the Department of Energy, home heating and cooling costs can account for up to 40 percent of a household's average monthly energy bill. Some homeowners have reported savings ranging from 20 percent to 50 percent on their heating and cooling costs after switching to a heat pump. They also cut the need for two separate units, require less maintenance than gas furnaces and traditional HVAC systems, run quietly and produce fewer emissions making them better for the environment. -
What incentives are available?
Cleco offers a mail-in rebate for up to $1,500 to residential customers who replace their HVAC system with a heat pump. The rebate is available through Power Wise, Cleco’s energy efficiency program. Visit Residential Equipment Rebates to complete the applicable form and apply for the rebate. Proof of purchase is required, and documentation must be submitted within 60 days of the purchase date.
In addition, Cleco offers a mail-in rebate for up to $1,500 to residential customers who install a heat pump in their newly constructed home plus a 10 percent discount on electric utility bills from November through April for the first five years of residence. These incentives are available through Cleco’s Power Miser program. To qualify, your new home must be served by Cleco, be heated by a qualified central heat pump and have all-electric water heating. Visit Power Miser to complete the New Construction Verification form and apply for the rebate.
