Cleco vice president named a top business woman in Louisiana

Sep 25, 2017

Pineville, La. – On Thursday, Sept. 21, Cleco vice president of customer experience, Shirley Turner, will be recognized as one of the Top 15 Business Women in Louisiana at the National Women’s Council conference in New Orleans.

“The National Women’s Council recognizes women who have reached the top of their profession and are respected and successful leaders within their organization,” said Dennis Kennedy, founder and chair of the National Diversity Council.  “They drive change, innovate and inspire others to succeed while contributing to business growth and the strategic direction of their organization.”

Turner has over 40 years of experience in the customer service field. She started her Cleco career as a customer service representative and with hard work and determination moved to director, manager, general manager and to her current position as vice president of customer experience, a title she has held since April 2016.

“To receive this award is beyond humbling,” said Turner. “I have spent my life and career doing my best to serve as an example and mentor to others, and this award proves my hard work has paid off. I cannot think of a better way to pay tribute to my years of service and encourage others to strive for success.”

A graduate of Grambling State University and resident of Alexandria, Turner will share her honor with her husband of 16 years, Kevin Turner, their four children and two granddaughters.

“The Cleco family is proud of Shirley’s nomination and award,” said Bill Fontenot, chief operating officer and interim CEO of Cleco Power. “Her dedication to the company and our customers is an inspiration.”

“The Louisiana Women’s Conference is an excellent platform to showcase the great strides women have made in the corporate world,” said Kennedy.  “Highlighting each of these exceptional leaders show women that their goals and aspirations are attainable.”
