Cleco volunteers support St. Mary Parish Council on Aging
Cleco employees volunteered in Franklin, La. at Treasures Under the Oaks, a charity thrift store operated by the St. Mary Council on Aging.
Through the company’s Done in a Day program, Cleco employees volunteer with charitable organizations who request assistance with a project that can be completed within one day.
Volunteers spent the morning assisting Council on Aging staff members by building shelves, organizing and cleaning the Treasures Under the Oaks thrift store.
The St. Mary Parish Council on Aging is a private, nonprofit corporation that provides activities and community services for residents age 60 and over across St. Mary Parish.
“Serving our community means a whole lot more than just keeping the lights on,” said Colie Plaster, communications representative at Cleco and Done in a Day program coordinator. “By volunteering with organizations, like the Council on Aging, we get to connect with friends and neighbors and make a direct impact in the communities we serve.”
“St. Mary Parish Council on Aging assists senior citizens to continue to live a healthy lifestyle,” said Beverly Domengeaux, director of the St. Mary Parish Council on Aging. “The proceeds from the thrift store directly benefit local senior citizen programs, home delivered meals and transportation.”
Cleco offers volunteer support across its 24-parish service territory. Organizations can request volunteer support by emailing [email protected].
