Jan 9, 2019

PINEVILLE, La. – Today, Cleco presented a $65,000 check to Louisiana Lions Camp, a free summer camp for youth with special needs, diabetes and pulmonary disorders. The company’s donation comes from proceeds generated from its annual charitable golf tournament, Tee Off for a Cause.

“Cleco is proud to partner with Louisiana Lions Camp to support children with special needs and help provide them with a unique, summer camp experience,” said Bill Fontenot, Cleco president and CEO. “Cleco is committed to supporting the communities where we live, work and serve, and this is just another example of our commitment.”

“Lions Clubs across Louisiana are grateful to Cleco for supporting the Lions Camp,” said Bob Hollingsworth, Alexandria Lions Club member and Louisiana Lions Children’s Camp executive board member. “These monies will be used to make significant improvements to the campground facilities used by over 400 special needs campers each summer.”

Cleco welcomed approximately 150 golfers and 100 sponsors from across Louisiana and eight other states to its fourth annual golf tournament held in September 2018 at OakWing Golf Club in Alexandria.

“We are thankful to our sponsors and golfers for making this tournament a success year after year,” said Leisha Hines, Cleco senior insurance and claims specialist and chair of the golf tournament. “It’s amazing to see our local community and surrounding states working together to support such a worthy cause.”
