PINEVILLE, La. – Today, Cleco partnered with the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES) to bring MATHCOUNTS, a national math enrichment competition for middle school students, to the Pineville Country Inn & Suites. 

“Through MATHCOUNTS, we are reversing the downward trend of mathematics literacy in our state and helping students discover that math can be fun,” said Brenda Gajan, executive director of LES.  “With Cleco’s support, we can continue our efforts to build confidence and promote math excellence among junior high students.”

“STEM programs, like MATHCOUNTS, help bridge gaps in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education,” said Dean Sikes, Cleco vice president of engineering, construction and project management.  “Furthermore, this event supports our future workforce."
