Cleco restores power to 66 percent of customers following storms

Oct 27, 2019

Pineville, La. (8 a.m.) – Following yesterday’s storms in St. Tammany and Washington parishes, Cleco has restored power to 18,390 of the 28,000 customers who experienced power outages.

“Crews are out working following yesterday's storm that caused major damage across our southeastern service territory,” said James Lass, general manager of distribution operations and emergency management.  “In addition to our local and statewide Cleco crews, we have brought in 175 line mechanics and tree trimmers to repair over 30 broken poles, work on broken crossarms and replace spans of wire in an effort to restore power to our customers.”

As of 8 a.m., Cleco had approximately 9,400 customers in St. Tammany Parish and 200 customers in Washington Parish without power due to the storms.

“We had a long, but productive day yesterday, and we thank our crews for their hard work to get the lights back on for our customers,” said Lass.  “Initial weather reports for today indicate that we could see gusty winds which could make repairs a little challenging for our crews or cause additional outages.   We thank our customers for their patience as we work quickly and safely to restore power.”
