Restoration efforts ongoing together with damage assessment

Damage is significant, and numbers are expected to increase

PINEVILLE, La. – Sept. 1, 2021 (11 a.m.)
– Cleco continues damage assessment and power restoration efforts in St. Tammany and Washington parishes. 

“As of 9 a.m. today, Cleco’s distribution damage assessors have found over 100 poles on the ground, over 400 broken crossarms, 65 damaged transformers, over 700 spans of conductor down and over 500 trees on power lines,” said Clint Robichaux, manager of distribution operations support.  “With damage assessment ongoing, the company expects these numbers to increase in the next 36 hours.”

Restoration

Below are estimated times for restoration (ETR).  Additional ETRs will be shared, as they become available.  Please note that unexpected damage or inclement weather could impact restoration efforts and timelines. 

St. Tammany Parish

Covington/Madisonville/Mandeville

  • Lakeview Hospital – Crews are working, and ETR is this morning, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • St. Tammany Hospital – Crews are working, and ETR is this afternoon, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • Power restored to some customers on Dove Park Road and Hwy. 59 yesterday, Tuesday, Aug. 31
  • Power restored to sections of Olde Town Covington yesterday, Tuesday, Aug. 31

Abita Springs

  • ETR for some customers in the interior part of town (downtown) is tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Mandeville

  • Power restored to Coroner’s Office last night, Tuesday, Aug. 31
  • Power restored to Oschner Therapy & Wellness last night, Tuesday, Aug. 31
  • Power restored to customers along Hwy. 434 last night, Tuesday, Aug. 31
  • Power restored to Southeast Hospital last night, Tuesday, Aug. 31

Lacombe

  • ETR for the nursing home is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1

    Madisonville

  • ETR for some customers is tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • ETR for customers on Hwy. 1085 is tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • ETR for Diversified Foods, Inc. is tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 1

Covington

  • ETR for a portion of Hwy. 190, which includes businesses like hotels and restaurants, is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1

Slidell

  • Power restored to Slidell Memorial Hospital
  • Crews restored power to the Slidell sewer pumping station off of Terrace Ave. at 8:40 p.m. last night, Tuesday, Aug. 31
  • ETR for Turtle Creek subdivision is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1 (roughly 200 customers)
  • ETR for Lakeshore Village subdivision is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1

Pearl River

  • ETR for Police Station is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • ETR for the water tower is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • ETR for Nelson Road sewer lift station is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • ETR for Pump Slough area is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • ETR for Sheriff’s Compound (Pine Street/Hwy. Spur 41) is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1
  • ETR for Hwy. 41 headed north off of Hwy. 11 is today, Wednesday, Sept. 1 (includes Pearl River High School, Saw Mill Creek subdivision, Messer’s Trailer Park)
  • Note that crews still have work to complete on some parts of Pine Street and Pine Street Extension due to larger breakdowns. No ETR at this time.
