Cleco employees volunteer at the Eunice Community Garden for ‘Done in a Day’
Cleco employees volunteered at the Eunice Community Garden as part of the company’s Done in a Day program.
Cleco’s Done in a Day program furthers the company’s partnerships with charitable organizations across its service territory, as well as provides an opportunity for its employees to get involved in the community. Through the program, Cleco works with charitable organizations who request assistance with a project that can be completed within one day or a few hours.
The Eunice Community Garden is a free service for anyone who wants to grow vegetables. The garden serves as a community partner with the LSU AgCenter and has a sensory garden for children and adults along with a vegetable growing section that supplies food to the less fortunate in the area.
Cleco volunteers pulled weeds, cleared overgrown grass and helped to prepare the garden for a shade cloth to cover the planters and protect them from the harsh sun.
“It is with the help of companies such as Cleco that make our garden, Christmas festival and kids activities happen,” said Randy Miller, Administrator of the Eunice Community Garden.
“It is great to see Done in a Day volunteer teams making an impact and connecting with their community,” said Colie Plaster, Communications Representative at Cleco and Done in a Day program coordinator. “Our employees are truly united by their generosity and drive to serve the people around them.”
