Cleco awards Agromen $20,000

PINEVILLE, La. – Today, Cleco awarded Agromen Incorporated located in Opelousas $20,000 for its youth programming efforts which help youth become productive citizens. 

“Cleco is a proud supporter of Agromen Incorporated,” said Bill Fontenot, interim Cleco Power CEO. “We are true believers that when businesses get involved in educating our youth, we help strengthen our communities.”

Cleco funds will help offset costs for the following:

  • Box gardens at elementary and junior high schools in Opelousas and Washington
  • Seeds to plant in box gardens
  • Greenhouse construction at the Agromen site
  • Equipment to groom animals, feed for animals and transportation of animals to state and parish livestock shows
  • Gardening equipment and medication for animals
  • Computers and software for tutoring students

“Cleco’s contribution will help us educate and instill confidence in our children that they can achieve anything they want in life,” said Joseph Cassimere, president of Agromen Incorporated.  “We are grateful to Cleco for helping us groom tomorrow’s leaders.”
