PINEVILLE, La. – Today, Cleco employees and mascot, Hot Spot, opened car doors, greeted students with a smile, and gave high fives and hugs at Phoenix Magnet Elementary School in Alexandria, La. in support of “Together Tuesdays.”

The Rapides Parish School Board implemented “Together Tuesdays” to offer innovative and creative ways for employers and the community to become more involved with their local schools.  The parish-wide program takes place the first Tuesday of every month.

“Phoenix Magnet is the fifth school we’ve visited, and we plan to visit more schools throughout the year,” said Marty Smith, vice president of marketing.  “This is an opportunity to make the school day a little brighter for students, motivate them and let them know we care.”

“The excitement on our students' faces this morning as they got out of cars and off buses was really uplifting,” said John Grimes, principal of Phoenix Magnet Elementary School.  “Cleco employees greeted everyone with enthusiasm that was contagious.  Our students could not help but be encouraged and motivated by such support.  Together Tuesdays is strengthening the cooperation between the business community and educational community in central Louisiana.”

Cleco employees are scheduled to visit Tioga Elementary School on April 14, 2020.
